Excellent infrastructure

The infrastructure is excellent with most of our 18 islands being connections by tunnels, sub-sea tunnels, or ferries. Our infrastructure continues improving with the current project being a sub-sea tunnel that will be connecting the islands of Streymoy and Sandoy.

In 2020 a sub-sea tunnel was construed which connected Tórshavn, Strendir, and Runavík. It is currently the only sub-sea tunnel in the world with a roundabout under the sea.

Beware of sheep on the road!

While driving in the Faroe Islands you will most likely see sheep close to (or on) the road. Please, drive with caution as their movement can be unpredictable.

Located close to the harbour, admittedly Rent Your Car is a little hard to find as it’s a fairly new company but boy were we glad we found them! We were dealt with by a gentleman called Tór who was the epitome of Faroese friendliness. He was incredibly helpful, making the whole car hiring process a breeze and was able to sort us a car ( to our last minute surprise) on the day with prepaid tolls for tunnels and car WiFi. The new car (Mazda automatic) was great to drive and we were able to drop it off at the airport as easily as when we picked it up in Tórshavn. Stars all round for this fantastic start up! We all agree it made our trip to the Faroes.
